My # 1 Tip To Build Upper Body Strength In Record Time

Did you know that there is a free and easy way to build a strong chest, arms, shoulders, triceps, abs and lower back?

Did you know that this can be accomplished with just one kind of exercise?

Not only is it free, but it can save you a lot of time compared to typical weight lifting and bodybuilding methods.

What is this magical exercise?

Before I tell you what it is, I want you to realize that you've probably already done this exercise and you almost certainly know what it is. But if you are like 98% of the people out there, you overlook the incredible strength and fitness potential this exercise can give you.

Maybe you've been duped into spending $500 to $2000 or more for home exercise equipment. Or maybe you pay a stiff monthly fee to workout in a gym and use all of their fancy little machines. But you probably didn't realize you have a powerful gym with you all the time. It's your amazing body the travelling gym.

In a second, I'll reveal what this kind of exercise is and at the end of this article, I'll show you a new way to get the most out of this exercise.

Ta-Da

If you want to build upper body strength in record time, then you must do some form of push-ups. Yes the lowly and common push-up is a way for you to get strong fast and not need to waste time driving to a gym to do them.

There are over 50 varieties of push-ups and you can make them as hard or easy as you like. I know a lot of my female fitness clients don't focus on doing push-ups because they feel it is too difficult for them, but that is a complete myth.

There are so many ways to make push-ups from super easy to incredibly difficult. It's like being able to add or remove weight as if you were weightlifting, yet all you need is your body and some floor space.

I explain how to do this in my ebook, Bodyweight Fitness Secrets: FAQ which is a bonus for people who own the Lightning Speed Fitness Program.

What makes the push-up such a quick way to build upper body strength?

The main reason is that it's a multi-muscle exercise. While you are doing a traditional military style pushup in good form, you are working much more than your chest. You're also working, your shoulders, triceps, abs, obliques, lower back and even your quads.

This is super time efficiency. Another reason it saves so much time is you don't have to waste time driving to a gym, changing in the locker room, waiting for your favorite machine to come free, etc.

You can do pushups and other bodyweight exercises just about anywhere. They are ultra convenient and they give you real world, true or what is often called - functional strength. If you go the bodybuilding route, you may get big and muscular but often that strength is counterfeit.

In real world emergency situations and sports where you need strength, those big muscles can actually make you weaker.

Bodybuilding Muscles Can Be Counterfeit

I can think of two examples of this. I have several times seen boxers who were very muscular, it was obvious they lifted weights and did bodybuilding. But in each and every case the other boxer who didn't look like Arnold Schwarzenegger had more punching power.

Big bulky muscles often reduce your functional or real world strength. Another example is a tennis student I had. He was quite muscular and strong. But when it came to playing tennis, his muscles just got in the way.

He couldn't generate nearly as much power as me on his forehands and on his serve and I could see from his form that his huge and bulging muscles got in his way. They weren't athletic kind of muscles, but more like bodybuilders.

So if you want real world strength, a fast and free way to get it is to do the good old pushup. If you want strong muscles and bigger muscles and have them be useful when you need them, then the pushup is a fantastic exercise for you to do.

Army Officer Goes From Overweight To Super-Muscular In A Month... By Doing Pushups Only

I read an amazing story in John Peterson's book, "Pushing Yourself To Power," about a guy he knew in the military. (Don't quote me on the details as I'm writing from memory and I read this several years ago.)

In any case, this guy had gotten himself way out of shape. He ate all sorts of junk and got fat. Soon it was time for him to go home and end his tour of duty. But he was newly married when he went into service and his wife probably wouldn't recognize him because of how out of shape he had become.

All of a sudden he was extremely motivated to get in shape to impress his wife. So with about a month or two before he was to come home he started doing pushups. And that's all he did, but he did them all the time. Whenever he had a minute to spare, he get down on the floor and do a set of pushups.

He eventually got to the point where he did about 1,000 or so pushups in a day. He of course, started off doing much less than that. But only by doing pushups he lost all the excess fat and he got really strong. He put on a lot of muscle and he looked amazingly good. I think I'm underselling, just how muscular he became with this simple pushup exercise regimen.

So if you want to transform your body quickly, why don't ou hop down and give me 20 pushups? :-)

Over the coming days, I'll be putting up more posts that give you specific instructions for doing different kinds of pushups. I found a great abdominal exercise to share with you. It's really easy to do and it's ten times better than crunches and sit-ups.
